Sioux Crape Myrtle
The Basics
Through summer and fall, the Sioux Crape Myrtle is sure to be a traffic-stopper in your front yard. In the summer, this myrtle produces a mass of beautiful, bright coral-pink flowers, and in the fall, the tree continues to stun with its maroon, autumn foliage. The Sioux is a medium-sized myrtle reaching a height of about 15 feet. It experiences about 90 days of flowering, is very hardy, and exhibits a high mildew resistance.
The Needs
Amount of Sunlight: Full sun to partial light shade
Amount of Water: Water regularly; more frequent watering in extreme heat
Soil Conditions: Average to slightly moist & fertile - well drained
Cold Hardiness Zone: 7-10
The Care
This easy-to-grow evergreen shrub needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Pruning is recommended once per year.
