Daylily Black Eyed Stella
The Basics
This cultivar has apricot-yellow flowers with deep orange eye-zones and grows to 24 inches tall. It has a nocturnal extended blooming habit; it opens in the late afternoon and closes the following morning or early afternoon, for at least 16 hours. Each flower lasts for only one day. It is a rebloomer, so it will bloom more than once in a season.
The Needs
Amount of Sunlight: Full sun
Amount of Water: Water regularly; more frequent watering in extreme heat; Drought tolerant
Soil Conditions: Prefers dry, well-drained soil with high organic matter content
Cold Hardiness Zone: 3-10
The Care
This low-maintenance perennial needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. The first year of growth requires watering weekly. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Remove old flower stalks to maintain its appearance.
